You're Probably Wrong About The Virginia Tech DC Hire

Many Virginia Tech fans seemed to have a problem with the Sam Siefkes hire. Here's why they're wrong.

After what felt like two centuries, Brent Pry and the Virginia Tech Hokies have finally found their new defensive coordinator in Arizona Cardinals linebackers coach Sam Siefkes. It wasn't a name people were expecting. It also wasn't a name most (if any) people had ever heard of before Monday afternoon.

But he's in the boat now, and after the initial shock of a hire that seemed to come out of nowhere, he started to make a lot of sense. A younger, innovative coach with play calling experience and a direct line to the most interesting defense in the NFL?

Sign me up.

But, because this is Hokie Nation and no one can ever be happy about anything, the hire was met with a damp enthusiasm. And while many are still figuring out their true feelings a few consistent complaints/skepticisms arose. And to be honest, I personally think most of those complaints are totally ridiculous.

So before anyone can do a real film breakdown or talk about personnel usage and stand up edge rusher packages, I want to break down why your feelings are more than likely wrong.

So if you found yourself asking one the three following questions following the Siefkes announcement, let me dissuade you of your initial reactions.
