Spring football is about teaching, player development, and personnel evaluation. Throughout the spring, the Hokies have had an ongoing competition at quarterback. Josh Jackson's struggles down the stretch of the 2017 reinforced the old adage that the most popular person on campus is the backup quarterback. Will Jackson leap forward in his second season behind center? Or will the limitations Jackson displayed at the end of last season — slow decision making, inaccurate passing, and below average rush threat — open the door for Ryan Willis or Hendon Hooker to make their case for playing time? Due to a tightly guarded spring, the Hokie faithful had their first real look at answering those questions on Saturday.
