I consider myself an amateur historian, by which I mean I spend a large amount of time Googling things.
In particular, I love studying the history of college football and the programs that make it great. Every program has a story — one of ups and downs, ebbs and flows. Transcendent individuals come and go, conferences realign, and demographics shift.
With Virginia Tech's season in the doldrums, today I offer a look back into the annals of Hokie football history. This is a story about a monumental rebuild from years ago — long forgotten since the halcyon days of Frank Beamer — and the events that led up to it.
