Am I the 1%?
Sorry about the title - I couldn't resist with all the dumbassery happening on Wall Street - but, what I am about to say just might be more unpopular than the Unpopular Opinion. It's been a long 4 days (due to work kicking me in the junk ... repeatedly) since that fateful night, so only now am I catching up on Hokie Nation's response to the Clemson game.
My reaction to last Saturday?
A resounding Meh. As in, "I don't really care."

A Microcosm for the true challenges within the Virginia Tech program
I just want to start by saying that I am just as pissed as you all are. We can all point to the reasons that the scoreboard said 23-3 after the Clemson game Saturday night, and I could rehash many of them. First, I want to focus on a couple of positives, and then I want to fire some howitzers.

An Unpopular Opinion

I did my best to ensure that I wasn't only observing locally. I was seated in the east-side of North endzone. Immediately around me the following held true, and to the best of my ability, looking around further I saw more and more of the same.
Which of the following behaviors best describe fans in the North Endzone:
1. Cheering for the team on most defensive plays
2. Muttering about poor decision-making and playing
3. Staring blankly at the field
4. Complaining that they were too sober
5. Worrying about running out of airplane bottles
If you answered everything except #1, you would be correct.

Antoine Hopkins Torn his ACL, Done for the Season.

Virginia Tech junior defensive tackle Antoine Hopkins suffered a torn ACL in his right knee Saturday night in Tech's loss to Clemson and will miss the rest of the season. He will have surgery Friday at Montgomery Regional Hospital.
Hopkins, from Highland Springs, Va., had started the first five games for the Hokies, recording eight tackles.
The staff will determine his replacement this week.

Terrible, terrible news. Antoine was having a spectacular season and was our best defensive tackle. The two-deep at defensive tackle is paper thin right now. Reliable backup Kwamaine Battle tore his ACL in August. Look for either of the true freshman, Luther Maddy or Corey Marshall, to be named the starter this week. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Antoine.
