Tennessee looked better than I thought they would, Cordarrelle Patterson and Bray were all sorts of bossy, but the Pack was sloppy. Preseason all-everything corner David Amerson got torched on two deep touchdowns, then became a guy Tennessee looked to pick on. NC State had a veteran o-line that got consistently beat by a 4 man rush. Mike Glennon fluctuated from sharp to dull on almost every other possession.
The ACC's 3rd best team in the strongest division was soundly defeated by the 3rd-5th best team in the SEC's weakest division. As long as it keeps happening, the perception of the ACC as a second-rate conference, which is backed by on-the-field results, will continue to be reality.
With the possible exception of FSU and Virginia Tech, the ACC is 5 minutes and a Clemson loss to Auburn away from being irrelevant. Again.β CollegeFootballNews (@ColFootballNews) September 1, 2012
The dumb Tweet above is from College Football News, a shell of its former self, and an outlet that lacks credibility in my opinion, but they have a lot of readers. If Clemson loses, be prepared to see more of the same.
I really believed the Pack would roll down to Atlanta and handle business, instead they became another in a long line of ACC jobbers.
