Winter sucks fishing thread

Well, it's not the worst of winters, but here where I live, winter fishing is nearly non-existant. At least in the mountains and more southern climes, fishing goes on.
I will open this thread with an encouraging email I received from my occasional fishing partner, Hokie Paul.
While I'm not sure if I was with him, I think I was when he tagged and released a 12" redfish in the Mobjack Bay here on the Chesapeake on 8/4/22. That fish was reported as caught in Owls Creek in Va. Beach on 2/5/24 and measured 25". The angler kept the fish for dinner.
Not bad growth for 550 days, and interesting that the fish wasn't recovered further south. Paul also was concerned because the water temperature at the time of tagging was 86 degrees and he worried about the youngster's survival.
Goes to show ya, that catch and release does work, and that fish provided another angler a decent fight and a decent meal. Also goes to show me that I need to cultivate friends in the 757. My best friend down there has health issues that have curtailed his interest, but we did use to catch reds and trout in the Elizabeth when the Hot Ditch was still discharging.

So anyway, how's about we get a report or two to get us through the times between basketball, softball, baseball and recruiting news. Somebody...DAVE....3rdGEN...FRENCH...give us a report.
