Weekly Weather Report, rebound edition

Let me apologize for the lateness of this weather report, its been a really busy week and fair warning next week might be more of the same. REGARDLESS lets get cracking!

It's that time of the week again ladies and gentlemen! Last week Well, let's just say it came and went and it's time for our next edition of the weekly weather report. I apologize ahead of time for both the lack of content and for the lateness of this, but modern physics and astrophysics is kicking my bum right now. And in regards to last week we lost but damnit this team is still really exciting, and I see so much promise with these guys. It's only a matter of time and things will start clicking soon. I can feel it in my bones.

minus 50 years
yes PBR included...

We move the ballwhich is so much more than we could have said in the last wellsince 05 and maybe one or two other years in there. That being said, we knew this would be a year of growing pains. Weve seen the ceiling of the team, and we know what theyre capable of, but theyre still VERY young and need time to improve. The more I think about this the less surprised I am about this team. It's exactly what I expected coming into the yearextremely talented, but probably pretty inconsistent and prone to some bone headed moves here and there until they mature some. I see the team getting better as the year goes on, and I honestly believe this. Im not saying it with some shaded maroon and orange goggles.

less lame..
the more beer I drink the more maroon/orange the lenses become

BUT that said, Im no expert. Im just here to be one of those obnoxious weather dudes that takes some educated guesses on the closest thing I can call an expertise at this point.

yeahhhh
I sometimes wonder if this is what you guys think of me

Im coming to The Keyplay community today with more boring but good news, a high pressure system is once more setting up shop above Virginia bringing us another day of glorious weather for homecoming weekend.

This weekend we take on the Broncosno not the ones with Peyton Manning. The Western Michigan broncos are a non-conference opponent that isnt quite up to the same talent level as ECU. I dont like overlooking opponents becausewell JMU. But unlike JMU, mother nature is not on the side of WMU university. It's looking like a day of sunshine and butterflies for the Hokies. I also would like to warn you guys that just because this team won one game last year, by no means are they a bad team. Their offence is very balanced and has only turned the ball over once this year averaging over 35 points per game. Their defense on the other hand has looked shaky at bestsurrendering 38 points per game and only getting one turnover. This should hopefully be a good day to get our mojo working as hopefully (in spite of another noon game!!!!) the fans come out in force and are loud during the game!

seriously... we were loud as shit last week!
yeah our fan base kicks ass

With the high pressure system coming in, expect temperatures to warm up a little bit to the low 70s (it should be really comfortable and beautiful outside). Clear skies are yet another common theme this weekend, as it seems as if mother nature has gotten our one bad game of the year out of the way already! As we progress into the night temperatures should stay comfortably high around 52 degrees with more clear skies and little to no wind. Seriously, the usual bipolar Blacksburg weather is once more giving us incredible conditions. With the clear skies, and the ridge in the higher wind levels expect this high pressure system to not go anywhere until the middle of next week.

upper air charts are coming....I'm currently trying to spit this out at work, expect them Friday morning/early afternoon!

High pressure systems seem to be a little somethin somethin I mention every week.... like seriously it seems like 85% of the time I talk about how gorgeous the weather will be because of high pressure systems. While we're still fresh on last weeks report about vorticity and upper air charts lets move back to ridges and their wondiferous contribution to high pressure systems! Shall we?

Ridges are associated with nice conditions and stability in the upper atmosphere. They are areas of very high elevation in the air. Since the air is higher and thus less dense, it makes it much more difficult for air to rise, and is thus susceptible to creating sinking air. Sinking air prevents lift and thus prevents clouds and brings with it warmer air. This = beautiful weather. If you think of high and low pressure systems like a riverbed, the high pressure system will be a lot like nothing happening and stability in the weather. The weather (or river) flows as normal. However when height decreases, a low pressure system flows in, and winds increase in speeds trying to catch up, imagine if you simply blew a hole into the river. The river would flow back in violently. The atmosphere is the same way, during low pressure systems the atmosphere tries to fill the space, and by doing that it allows lifting from the lower atmosphere and storms. Because there's no hole and much less dense air and much less lift, the weather and temperatures will be BEAUTIFUL.

So how is this strange connection between a river and the atmosphere relevant? Well my good fellows it just so turns out we're under a ridge this week. Which again... and I can't reiterate this enough... means pretty weather and lots of stability in the atmosphere!

AGAIN air charts are on their way! Patience ladies and gentlemen, I can animate them much better on the Major Williams computers and my tablet struggles from time to time to download programs

How it will all play out on the field.

Well Ive kinda whiffed on this part the last two weeks and won't be making a score prediction because of it. I've lost my privileges. However I do think our defense needs to create turnovers, and I dont think weather will effect either team much at all. Expect teams to still be fresh by the 4th quarter and hopefully our team is purring along efficiently at that point. Establishing the run is still necessary to keep their offense off the field and help prevent brewer from trying to make too much happen. Hopefully our more talented team can take advantage of their team and impose their will on this team a little bit.

Final predictions

High 72
Low 54
Winds maybe 5 mph gusts
precip nada
cloud cover nada

lets get back to this

GO HOKIES!!!!!

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."
