1999 Déjà Vu

1999.

Every Hokie fan remembers that year. Michael Vick guides the Hokies to a national championship showdown against Bobby Bowden and the Seminoles. Both teams were 11-0 going into the Sugar Bowl. With a 29-28 lead going into the fourth, the Hokies were only fifteen minutes away from winning their first national title. Virginia Tech lost that game, but gained national relevancy from Michael Vick.
Now, in 2010, this Virginia Tech team may not be headed to the national title, but they do bring back memories from 1999. This Virginia Tech team has the longest winning streak since 1999. This Virginia Tech team forced Miami into six turnovers in a game for the first time since 1999, back when Miami has six against those Hokies. This Virginia Tech team was the first team to go undefeated in the ACC since Florida State did it in 2000. And for the first time since 1999, Florida State beat both Miami and Florida in the same season. Now both Virginia Tech and Florida State meet for another championship. While this isn't the same championship that was played for a decade ago, both teams must treat it as such. 2010 is the new 1999.

Now for only the outcome of that 1999 championship to change.
