According to TSL, "At VT's football camp. Just got the word that Kyle Chung committed this morning," the Hokies landed a commitment from another legacy Saturday morning when Kyle Chung (Ponte Vedra, Florida) verballed at Tech's one-day camp. Kyle's father was Hokie great Eugene Chung (offensive tackle 1988-91). Tech offered Kyle at the end of May.
VIRGINIA TECH Offer #isthisreallife— Kyle Chung (@kchung84) May 23, 2012
Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Arkansas State and Temple among others offered the rising 6-4 250 pound junior.
Chung's highlights show him at tight end and d-line. However, he'll play either tight end or offensive line in college. His athleticism is evident throughout his film. Throwing blocks downfield, in space like that isn't as effortless as he makes it seem. He doesn't quite look 250 either. That's probably due to a combination of his height, and lean weight. Eugene is Assistant to the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Eagles, so I'll assume Kyle is well conditioned. If he puts on another 30 pounds he could play guard or frontside tackle. That's what Beamer Co. probably sees when they look at him. He doesn't dominate defenders off the ball like you might see on the film of a 280 pound prospect, but he's technical. It's evident he knows where the ball is going, and routes the defender away from the play. His high school coaches like to run behind him, and he seals the outside well. There's a play where he's lined up as a fullback/H-back and is the lead blocker on an ISO. On a counter he's lined up playside and is extremely quick to pickoff the backside backer. He tries to cut a kid, misses a bit, but springs back and finishes the block. It's all pretty impressive.
Welcome to HokieNation Kyle!
