Dwayne Lawson - $0.02

Finally got around to watching Dwayne Lawson's senior HUDL film. Newsflash: He's good.

The obvious things:

1) He has the strongest arm in Blacksburg.
2) He throws a very pretty, accurate deep ball. There's not one throw on his highlight that requires the WR to come back to and fight for the ball.
3) He's fast. He's a long strider, so his speed is deceptive. But his ability to jump cut and move laterally is impressive. The explosiveness he demonstrated in his track career is on display on the football field. His ability to jump-cut and then accelerate reminds me of David Wilson...both are exceptional track & field triple jumpers, and this is probably not a coincidence as the triple jump requires balance, control, and very powerful reactive legs.

However, there are two things that stood out to me on his film that seperate him from most high school QB's highlight:

1) He operates in the pocket when things get tight. He has that ability to chop his feet and glide around the pocket in tight spaces to find throwing windows and avoid contact. Most high school guys, especially with his athletic ability, are taking off when things break down.
2) Seems like his offense is pretty multiple. Yes, most of his throws are from the shotgun, but he does run some pro-style play action stuff under center. He completes several stick routes and out patterns and other timing throws.

I think he plays.
