The 2015 The Key Play tailgate is set for Labor Day. I agree with Frank Beamer, Ohio State is the most anticipated Lane Stadium opener, and it would have been wrong to pick any other game to play host for the 2015 tailgate. TKPers wasknick, ArchonVT, VTyson08, pcfens and cwaskiewicz are doing the yeoman's work and are going to bring the tailgate to life. We're setting up shop in Lot 18 in the corner by the guard rail and the creek (parking map, Google map). (We have three Lot 18 passes, but could really use another one if someone wants to share.) Look for the TKP logo banner or smell around for the aroma of three pork butts smoking. Nick (wasknick) is serious about butts.
Food will be provided (pork butt, Sub Station II party sub, grillable edibles), but it's bound to run out. If you're planning on staying for a while, please bring something to contribute; whether that's food to share (especially sides), drinks, or tailgating supplies (chairs, trash bags, plastic cups, cornhole, side tables, plasticware, etc...). The festivities begin at noon, and will wrap up around 6:30 PM.
Most importantly, it's not just a banging party, but a charity event. If you plan to come by at all, even to say hello for a minute, you must bring $5 or more in cash, canned goods, or supplies from this list if you're a student. That bumps to $10 if you have a real world job. Contributions of money, gift cards, and/or supplies are fully tax deductible. The donations will benefit The Women's Resource Center Of The New River Valley. The Women's Resource Center is a federally recognized 501(c)3 and Pam Beale ( administration wrcnrv [DOT] org) would be happy to provide whatever written documentation is requested.
Last year we raised $1,190, a testament to the generousity of Hokie Nation and TKPers. The goal this year is to double that goodness up.
