Photo Gallery: Buzzketball Challenges Iowa

The theme of Virginia Tech's 79-55 win over Iowa was faces. The basketball itself was secondary, although it certainly turned into a fun game in the second half, even if I didn't get home until midnight after a 9pm tip time. 🤔

Going in chronological order, the faces got off to a good start with Buzz Williams asking the hard questions less than a minute into the game.

Students in the first row definitely are a good source of faces, especially when a month of free bacon is on the line.

Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery was easily the most heated coach I've seen on the visiting sideline in Cassell over the years. The man was yelling at everyone and wasn't exactly trying to be quiet about it. He even yelled at his assistants to "wake UP" at one point.

I know this isn't really in-line with the theme, but I am always in love with wide shots of Cassell. The high ceilings that disappear into partial darkness but still show off the architecture always stand out to me. One day I'll win the lottery and buy myself some remote camera kits and go nuts.

Back to faces, P.J. Horne had a really quiet 16 points, even if the slam dunk was louder than most of them.

Moving on, the best play of the evening that I completely missed, but still had the opportunity to "shoot through the play", as your local sports photography instructor would tell you.

Keeping the theme going, the High Techs got into the action during a media timeout.

Ahmed Hill reacts to a badly missed three point shot just as good as if he had made it.

Finally, we end like how we started, with Buzz Williams yelling at a referee over a blown call. Even when you're up by 20+, you gotta keep up the pressure.
