Update: It looks likes Virginia Tech is denying Allen Trieu's original report. Andy Bitter Tweeted the following: "Virginia Tech says CB James Farrow has not been granted a release. http://Scout.com tweet says he has with intent to transfer. #Hokies". Mark Giannotto then Tweeted "Torrian Gray, Farrow's position coach and recruiter, said this is the first he's heard about Farrow potentially transferring. #Hokies".
I followed up with Trieu on Twitter about Tech's denial.
It seems like he spoke with Farrow this morning. Farrow himself Tweeted the following (1, 2) about an hour ago.
Draw your own conclusions about what's happening. My original post is as follows.
-----
This report is according to Allen Trieu of Scout.com (Fox Sports NEXT).
Farrow was rated by Rivals.com as the second best player coming out of high school in Minnesota 2011, though he redshirted his freshman year at Tech. He has blazing 4.4 speed and good size so it was expected he'd compete to earn playing time at corner in 2012.
Details of the release are unknown at this time. Keep in mind James' father Lonnie played for Minnesota back in the 80s. We wish him the best of luck moving forward.
What does everyone think the effect of James' transfer will be on the secondary moving into spring ball.
