2024 VT Football - Takes thread

Now that we're under a week to play, i wanted to have some fun with hot, and not so hot, takes about the upcoming football season. We've gotten all the input from the fall camp. We've seen the possible shifts in lineups. Now, it's time to wildly speculate. A little justification never hurts with a take. But, sometime

As a scale, I've chosen the BW3's wing sauce (I would have used PKs, but they don't order theirs by heat level). We'll be skipping the rubs. A dry rub doesn't really equal preseason excitement.

Don't just give us one take. Make one for each level.
And now, to kick things off:

Sweet BBQ: Assuming we do what we're supposed to do, there are 5 wins on the schedule. Marshall, ODU, UVA, Duke, and BC. 5 Wins is the absolute floor with this schedule.
Teriyaki: PJ Prioleau gets 10 total touches.
Honey Mustard: Ali Jennings gets the most receptions. Gosnell gets the most first down receptions. Lane gets the most yards after catch. Felton has the longest ypc.
Parmesan Garlic: Delane gets more interceptions than Strong. There will be more opportunities for him, at least early in the season, because people will work away from Strong.
Medium: Holloway comes back for the last four games of the season, but others have performed well enough on punt return that he really doesn't get used.
Honey BBQ: Brumfield will be ok. I'm not saying he's going to be awesome. But, he's going to be the signal caller on defense that we need, on over half of our defensive snaps.
Spicy Garlic: Jaylen Jones won't contribute as much at Safety, unless someone is injured or out for targeting. He will still get some rotational play. But, as a team building for the future, Reddish is the first in for the garbage time work.
Asian Zing: Keli Lawson has capped out. Jaden Keller might actually put it together. But, both of them are going to lose time to McDonald, Woodson, and others.
Caribbean Jerk:Mines isn't going anywhere this year. Taking a coordinator job isn't using his skills. As long as we keep paying him, lateral moves don't make sense. Going anywhere else, other than a school in this region, takes him away from his strongest recruiting ties. And why leave us for anyone else in the region? So, a head coaching gig is the only thing that makes sense. Again, it would have to be a school in our region, and I doubt any bigger schools view him as HC-ready. Richmond would be the likely candidate, with JMU right behind.
Thai Curry: APR doesn't drastically increase his sack numbers. He lost out on a few sacks last year because of plays by other people. There will be more D linemen to compete with for those sacks. Overall sack number for the team increases dramatically, but his doesn't.
Hot: Montavious Cunningham might not contribute in as big a way as everyone was hoping. He's not cracked the starting lineup yet. Either everyone else has progressed and beaten him out, or, he doesn't have it between the ears. I can't really see another scenario that makes sense. We saw physical indications that he can be good during the spring game. Something has to be keeping him out of the lineup.
Mango Habanero: Our offensive line's run blocking didn't improve last year as much as the rushing numbers say it did. I expect similar improvement. But, our scheme is what made the big leaps last year. Everyone has film on those changes. Our key to improvement is actually in the O Line's hands. They have to make a jump, or we won't be as effective as last year.
Blazin: If we make the CFP, we win our first game.
