AMA #30 maxANDcheese

Name's Max, not actually though, maxANDcheese was created while in Blacksburg. Prior to my time at Tech I spent my earliest years all over Virginia and *shudders* a couple years in Maryland before my dad stopped climbing the corporate ladder and settled down outside of Lynchburg, his hometown. Lynchburg is fairly equidistant between cville and Bburg and I went to quite a few games in both towns before decidedly becoming a Hokie sometime in Middle School.

I was strongly encouraged to play football, but should have just stuck to T&F honestly. I was a hot body for a number of years on the football field and got to play wing, TE, LB, DE, and safety before getting into the weight room and finding my way as a third generation OL. Despite being able to throw some weight around, I was (am) not all that athletic and did not become a third generation college athlete. As noted prior, I should have stuck with T&F if I had an ambition for college athletics, but I did not. I just wanted to go to Tech and I was a D2 kid at best, even in my best event, discus. I did, however, room with a number of walk-ons while at Tech through a HS teammate (and the genesis of my TKP handle) and got to know a few household names for us Hokie fans. I went to every home game while in Blacksburg and in 2010 made it to all the home and neutral games. That ACC game remains one of my favorite memories of college and Hokies football.

I had a plan for my studies at tech and grad school, but was still very much a wandering soul and used grad school as a time to travel. My schooling included a few internships I could take pretty much wherever I wanted in the States and I spent most of my time in Utah and New Mexico with a brief stint in Richmond where I left, but came back to and have been since. My time in NM included a significant amount of time living in Navajo Nation, which was a pretty formative experience for me. I was supposed to spend fall 2015 in Charlotte and bought season tickets, but things fell through and I ended up watching Beamer's last home game from a pub in SLC with my future wife and a couple gamecocks. I am pretty sure I hold the record for most Wild Turkey shots consumed before noon in Utah.

Upon graduating grad school we moved to Richmond, I was previously familiar with the town and my wife had friends there. I spent my late 20s going to shows, sometimes 3 times a week, and living a block away from Robert, luckily a year before the riots we had moved to Church Hill. I spent COVID times with my pup on a hammock in the backyard and once the world settled down we decided that we weren't really moving anymore and got knocked up. Now most of my weekends consist of home renovations and trying to keep my jeep running. As some of you may already know from other threads, my hobbies include collecting VT memorabilia and 3D printing knick-knacks. I grew up a gamer, but gave up the sticks for a time, so I skipped the Xbox one/PS4 generation and recently acquired a Series S for CFB 25 and my mind is blown.

If my life depended on it I guess I would say I like Pie over Cake (the cake is a lie), but my favorite desserts are brownies, the fudgier the better, and cheesecake which is its own thing if we're being honest with ourselves.
