The Ladies play the Davidson Wildcats today at 4:30 in the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tipoff at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida. The game is on the Women's Sports Network(whatever that is); their website says they are available on LGChannels, Roku, Sumo, Vizio Watchfree+, Tubi, Plex and Freevee. I could not find the game on any of the channels available to me on Comcast. Davidson is 3-3 with wins over Florida Gulf Coast, Wofford, and Presbyterian. Their losses are to High Point, Cincinnati, and Wake Forest. Against WF, they were up 44-39 after three quarters; but they lost the fourth quarter 22-11 to lose by 5 points. WF is 4-3 so far this year against a relatively soft schedule. The Hokies come in at 5-1 on a four game win streak. VT is 3-0 all time against Davidson. ESPN gives the Hokies about 92% chance to win.
Four of Davidson's starters are under 6 feet tall, Millie Prior, 6'2" Forward who started the first four games has not played in the last two. Her replacement seems to be 6'1" Tomisin Adenupe.
This game will be a battle of styles. Davidson scores 61.7 ppg and allows 57. The Hokies score 80 and allow 60. We obviously like to play faster than the Wildcats. Davidson averages 12.5 assists and 16.3 turnovers per game. Only #17 Candice Lienafa scores in double digits at 11 ppg; but they do have 7 players scoring between 5.5 and 9.2 ppg, so a balanced offense. I don't think they have anyone that can stop Rose Micheaux down low. The Hokie starters are all 6' or taller; Davidson will be at a significant height disadvantage.
May be a chance for Coach Duffy to play a lot of players.
LET'S GO HOKIES!
