WBB at NC State Jan 26 at 6PM

The Ladies travel to North Carolina to play the NC State Wolfpack today at 6 PM. The game will be on the ACC Network. NC State are 9.5 point favorites with the over/under at 140.5; the Matchup Predictor gives the Hokies 17.4% chance to win.

NC State is 15-4, 7-1 in conference. Their four losses are to #2 South Carolina, #9 TCU, #5 LSU and #22 California. One of their wins was against Ole Miss, who are the fourth team listed under receiving votes. They are on a four-game winning streak and have won 11 of their last 12. They trounced Louisville and beat Pitt by 17 points; we beat Louisville by 5 and Pitt by 17. They beat UVA by 5; we lost to UVA by 8.

They start 4 guards and 6'7 forward freshman #18 Tilda Trygger. The guards are #10 5'10 senior Aziaha James, #35 5'10 sophomore Zoe Brooks, #22 6'1 senior Saniya Rivers, and #21 6'0 grad student Madison Hayes. #42 6'3 sophomore Mallory Collier splits time with Trygger. The four guards play 30+ min per game; Trygger and Collier split 30 min per game. #3 Jones plays about 17 min/game and the rest of the team plays 7-10 min/game.

The four guards score 10-17 ppg, Trygger and Collier combine for about 9.5 ppg. They shoot 43.6% overall and 36.1% from three; only Hayes, among the starters, at 38% shoots better than 32.6% from three. They only shoot 67.2% from the foul line.

Nothing stands out about this team. They win the rebound battle by 3.2; they turn the ball over 12.3 times per game. They have 13.8 assists per game. They don't foul much at 12.3 per game; but they get fouled a lot at 17.4 per game. The Hokies are again going to struggle in the paint against 6'7 Trygger and they are going to have to keep the turnovers down to have a chance in this game. This game could be winnable; but the Ladies are going to have to light it up beyond the arc and maybe get Trygger in foul trouble. And Micheaux has to limit her fouls; and the whole team has to make their layups.

LET'S GO HOKIES!
