Since the current coach is grooming his son for his replacement, that leaves no chance of promotion for the new guy. That could be a non-issue for some (ie, I failed as an HC and am happy to stay at OC...perhaps Chuck Long), or (my future goal is to be HC at another school), but it could be a show-stopper for many OC candidates.
