Virginia Tech flipped Old Dominion commitment Tyree Rodgers on national signing day.
The 6-1, 180 pound Camden Catholic (Cherry Hill, NJ) product received an offer from the Hokies on January 27 during his official visit, and played recruitment close to the vest since.
Rodgers met with ODU coaches late last week, including head coach Bobby Wilder and running backs coach Michael Zyskowski, shortly after his trip to Blacksburg.
He declined to tell family members where he was going to sign as late as Tuesday evening, his mother said via text message.
In addition to the Monarchs, N.C. State and Rutgers also offered Rodgers.

Rodgers is rated as a 3-star athlete by the 247Sports Composite. Even though he is slotted as a defensive back for the Hokies, Rodgers has done it all on the football field.
In 2015, the 6-2, 175-pound multipurpose Rodgers accumulated 1,569 passing yards and 13 passing TDs (to only six INTs), 262 rushing yards and four rushing TDs, 16 tackles, five interceptions and four pass break-ups, leading to an all non-public second-team selection.
"He is a true athlete," said Marcus Hammond, coach of Rodgers' NLG 7-on-7 team. "He can line up at corner, safety, wide receiver, quarterback and even return kicks. He has the range and hips to be a lock-down corner. He will need to get stronger. He is 6-2, 175 pounds. If he can play at 190, he will have the frame to be physical, as well."
