A Product of the Trenches, Wideout Jaylen Jones commits to the Hokies

An insightful look at what Jones brings to the table at Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech's 2021 recruiting class added its first verbal from within the Commonwealth. On Friday, Jaylen Jones opted for the Hokies over Pitt, Wake Forest, Boston College and East Carolina.

"Virginia Tech [was] recruiting me hard and just the factor of my parents being able to come to all my games," said Jones about what put the Hokies over the top.

The 247Composite 3-star (0.8466) wide receiver hauled in 76 receptions for 1,369 yards and 18 touchdowns last season as a junior, his first playing wideout. As a sophomore, the Thomas Jefferson HS (Richmond) standout aligned behind center.

"We didn't have a quarterback and put the ball in the best athlete's hands," said TJ coach P.J. Adams.
