Team Rankings Have Hokies with No. 26 Recruiting Class, but What About Average Recruit Rank?

Evaluating Virginia Tech's 2022 recruiting class after a slew of June commitments, official and unofficial visits.

As Virginia Tech adds more and more commitments to its 2022 recruiting class, there's been plenty of debate trying to answer the question, "How good is it?"

At face value, the effort indicates a turnaround. As I write this on Sunday, the Hokies' 2022 class is ranked No. 26 per the 247Sports Composite. (General caveat that a lot can change between now and signing day applies throughout this post.) That's marked improvement from finishing 43rd and 76th in 2021 and 2020, respectively. And for my money, the Composite score is the best available rank out there because it tries to remove some of the subjectivity of evaluating high school prospects by equally considering analysis from the other major recruiting services (Rivals and ESPN). However the team ranking methodology still suffers from some bias, specifically due to class size and a weighted distribution.
