This photo was posted to "The U"'s (not official) Facebook page on March 23rd. It's since gone viral. From the description, "Posted on a bulletin board inside the Wellness Center at the University of Miami." The comments are gold. Example, "Besides its for O-line. Not skill positions not defensive ends. Not for QB. Why are we all shitting our pants about this...I see that not too many here understand how college sports work." I recommend wasting 20 minutes and reading through them all. Felder doesn't believe it's a big deal, and it's really not. However, it is embarrassing, and it's a reflection of how far Miami has fallen, they're not sweating out 5-star talent in the Florida heat anymore.
As we stand on the eve of another spring football season, I resign myself to worry about the Hokies. I worry that the linebacker depth has evaporated. I worry that all the moves in the secondary rob Peter to pay Paul. I worry about offensive line continuity and new running backs. And, I worry about finding punters, place kickers, returners, and guys who can make things happen in coverage.
But, it is the promise of expectation and potential which brings us back every year and lets us hope to dream the impossible dream. And, when I look at the Hokies roster this spring, the thought of Mark Shuman and Laurence Gibson winning jobs on the left side of the offensive line gives me something to aspire to hope for.

Virginia Tech linebacker Tariq Edwards will undergo surgery today at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg to insert a rod in his left tibia. The procedure is being done to relieve pain from a stress fracture in his shin and he’s expected to miss 3-4 months, according to head athletic trainer Mike Goforth. Dr. Marc Siegel will perform the surgery.
Edwards had 71 tackles last season, including 11.5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks and two interceptions, starting 14 games at linebacker.
"The injury occurred late in the season and he played in the bowl game with it," Goforth said. "We don't like to rush in and do surgery on those unless you absolutely have to. It hasn't healed by conservative measures, so it’s time to go ahead and fix it."
Goforth said he expects Edwards to be back for the second summer session and ready for the season.
Goforth also said the only other Tech athlete in the past he can remember having a surgery like this is former basketball player Markus Sailes back in the 2004-05 season.
Edwards, G-W, and Bruce Taylor will all be out or limited during spring ball. That's not optimal, but there are a lot of young guys behind them who will benefit from the experience.

Virginia Tech's club team was founded in 1984, and while it was competitive for many years, it wasn't until the team moved to the MACHA that the program truly took a step forward in terms of exposure and recruiting.
"When I first got here, a lot of people around here didn't know there was a hockey team at Virginia Tech," said Morales. "Four years later, I feel like most people know that we have a team, that we're competitive, and that we have been pretty successful."
1) WANT a jersey, 2) go Hokies!
Update: It's official, he's committed.
This morning David Prince (@D_Prince8) from Patrick Henry in Roanoke, Virginia Tweeted he plans to verbally commit to Virginia Tech later today. In addition to Virginia Tech, Prince held offers from Virginia, ECU, and Wake Forest. Shane Mettlen of the Culpeper Star-Exponent detailed Prince's recruitment battle between Virginia Tech and Virginia last week.

'Arch Matness,' as it is being called this year, is wrestling's version of the big dance. 33 wrestlers will vie for All-American status and more importantly the title of National Champion from March 15-17 in St. Louis (Scottrade Center). Virginia Tech will send six wrestlers this year, a drop-off from the seven that they sent to Philadelphia last year. However that's a good number of bids despite the injuries to 157 pound senior Jesse Dong, and senior heavyweight David Marone. Both probably would have earned sports in the tournament pushing the number to eight national qualifiers. But, let's not dwell on what might have been, let's talk 2012 Arch Matness.
